For over three hundred years, the Army National Guard has come to the aid of communities during natural disasters and in other emergencies such as violent protests, the Oklahoma City Bombing, and September 11. In addition, National Guard soldiers are active members of their communities and are dedicated to helping out with local organizations. But your service won't stop at the community level. The Army National Guard has proudly served in every war from the American Revolution to Operation Iraqi Freedom. You can serve your country by helping guard and protect America's values and freedoms. Programs like the The Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) and the Army National Guard's Tuition Assistance Program can help you pay for your college degree. Many states now offer varying degrees of tuition assistance in addition to all of the other assistance we just mentioned.
